Icons and ingenues abounded Monday night at the Cinema Society screening of
Evening. Film great
Vanessa Redgrave exchanged air kisses with her co-stars
Claire Danes,
Hugh Dancy,
Patrick Wilson, and

up-and-comer
Mamie Gummer, as the ensemble cast reunited to watch the flick on the big screen. "For me, because I've been acting for so long, it's a question of who I want to work with everyday," said
Glenn Close, who also appears in the movie, alongside Toni Collette, Natasha Richardson, and Meryl Streep. "With this group of actors it was a no-brainer." Danes, for her part, was starstruck by the audience, which included
Ang Lee,
Edie Falco,
Rachel Weisz, and designer
Narciso Rodriguez. "It's kind of out-of-body," she said about watching herself play Redgrave's young, headstrong

character in the 1950's. "I get excited when so many people come."
Uptown, partygoers dusted off their candy-hued wigs, kimonos, and obis to celebrate "Lost in Translation: Tokyo-oke," the New York City Ballet's 23rd annual Dance With the Dancers event. After a colorful cocktail hour on Lincoln Center's terrace, guests including
Arthur Elgort,
Nicole Miller, and Nanette Lepore, as well as co-chairs
Candace Bushnell and
Allison Sarofim, sat down for dinner and a performance by NYCB dancers, followed by a karaoke sing-along. "My Harajuku look? I don't have one!" exclaimed furrier Dennis Basso. "My contribution to the theme is to have as many Asian snacks as possible."
